Savannah, Georgia
Church of Scotland 207 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401. The Independent Presbyterian Church, which is a branch of the Church of Scotland, was founded in 1755. I was surprised to find this connection to Scotland here. Lowell Mason, who wrote Joy to the World and Nearer My God, to Thee, began his musical and religious career at this church.
Both of my parents' ancestral lines go back to Scotland. On June 20, 1314 the Alexanders of Kintyre, of Clans MacAlister and MacDonald, joined with Robert the Bruce in defeating the British in the decisive Battle of Bannockburn in South Stirling. This reestablished Scottish independence and placed Robbie the Bruce as Robert I King of Scotland. From him came the Stewart Noble line from which Queen Elizabeth descended.

Tybee Island Obviously, this is a little ways from Savannah on the ocean. This is the sea resort of Georgia. As such, it is full of cafe's, small cheap motels, and gift shops. It's also a fun, divey sort of place.
